Home Remedies for External Hemorrhoids
Anyone can get hemorrhoids. They have no respect for age, wealth, or sex. You may be suffering from them and wondering how or why you ever had a problem with them. The truth is that anyone is susceptible to hemorrhoids. Some may be more susceptible than others, but they can happen to anyone.
If you have hemorrhoids, you may think that your only options are medication. You couldn’t be farther from the truth. Medication may be right for some people, but with all the health conscious people of today’s world, it is much more likely than ever to be able to come up with home remedies that really work. Natural remedies can not only work, they are easier to use, convenient, not embarrassing to buy, and may help you recover even faster than medication would.
One external hemorrhoid remedy is to change toilet paper. Unfortunately, the toilet paper you use may make the difference between irritating the area and healing it. As a matter of fact, there are some doctors who recommend using either moist baby wipes or facial tissue with lotion in it to wipe that most delicate area. Another option is to use moistened toilet paper to wipe. It will be easier on your already sore rectum and the healing will happen faster.
This may sound simple, but if you have hemorrhoids- DON’T SCRATCH! Hemorrhoids can be very itchy, and scratching them may further inflame them, make them burn, and generally irritate them more than ever. Keep your hands away from the area, except to apply something soothing or to wipe with a moist towelette.
Taking a sitz bath a couple of times a day may help relieve any symptoms and heal the hemorrhoids. It may be one way to prevent external hemorrhoids from becoming thrombosed. A sitz bath is simply warm water. You may add something soothing to it, such as lavender oil, oatmeal, or witch hazel.
You may also want to use some aloe vera gel from a plant you may have in your house, or buy some at the store to apply to the area. It is very healing and soothes even the worst hemorrhoids. You may also use pure petroleum jelly to offer soothing relief. Applying a couple of times a day may offer you the best relief.
Whatever home remedies you decide to try, you will want to make sure you are giving it enough time to work. You should feel some relief very soon after trying something, but sometimes things take a couple of days to show obvious results. Above all else, you will heal faster and better if you make sure you are having regular bowel movements and not straining to go. Home remedies may be the best thing for hemorrhoids.
