Foods to Eat and Foods to Avoid

If you are suffering from hemorrhoids, you may not immediately make the connection between what you eat and drink, and the hemorrhoid problem. What you may not know may be making your symptoms worse and prolonging the problem.

When it comes to external hemorrhoid remedy findings, there are many foods that you can use to help treat the problem. There are also some foods that you may want to avoid that may actually make the problem worse and make it more difficult to heal quickly.

What to Eat and Drink

First on the list of what to eat is high fiber foods. Fruit, vegetables, and whole grains will offer you the fiber you need in order to have the bulk required to make your stools easier to pass. Next is water. Water, water, water. It can’t be stressed enough that when you have hemorrhoids, you need to take in a lot of water to help heal, and help make your stools softer.

Berries are wonderful to add to your diet and will help with the pain and inflammation associated with external hemorrhoids. Cherries, blackberries and blueberries are all great to help with the veins, strengthening them and helping the swelling go down. They are especially fast acting when taken in juice form. They will get into your bloodstream faster, bringing results quickly.

Onions, garlic, and ginger are all important to have in your diet regularly if you have hemorrhoids. There are even ways to treat hemorrhoids topically with onions and garlic, but eating them is a great start to getting the healing they provide to your tissue that has been damaged.

Olive oil and flax seed oil are wonderful and healing. Fish oil is also something that you will want to make sure you are consuming, either as a supplement or in fresh fish. Drinking water with either lemon juice, cayenne pepper, or apple cider vinegar is a good way to help your body heal from the inside.

Foods to Avoid

If you have hemorrhoids, you may want to avoid eating spicy foods and hot peppers. The spices may irritate and make the pain and itching worse.

You will also want to avoid eating or drinking anything that may cause you to become constipated. Common foods and drinks to cause constipation are coffee, red meat, alcohol, and some other animal products. Since everyone is different in the ways the body reacts to dairy products and wheat, you need to monitor your own diet and see what the problem areas may be for you.

You will also want to cut down on your salt intake if you have hemorrhoids. Salt can irritate and make the itching worse.

Making changes to your diet to help fight hemorrhoids naturally may be the simplest way for you to begin to get control over them for good.
