Dealing With Recurring External Hemorrhoids

Anyone who has had hemorrhoids more than once knows that there is a fine line between having hemorrhoids once or twice and having them come back again and again. When is it important to seek help for hemorrhoids, and what kind of help should you consider?

If you have had external hemorrhoids before, you know how much pain, itching, burning, and overall discomfort they may cause. Even a mild hemorrhoid may be more than you want to experience again. If you have had hemorrhoids more than once, there may be a point where you give up on all the conventional home remedies, herbal treatments, and natural things that are easy to do in your own home. What do you do then?

There may be the temptation to just live with them, but if you do that, you are taking a bigger risk of increasing your chances of suffering from a thrombosed external hemorrhoid. That would be even more painful and more difficult to treat than the run of the mill external hemorrhoids you have been having. Not that they are easy to deal with, but the things you can do to relieve the pain and other symptoms you have with them, is no match for what you might have to do with a hemorrhoid that has clotted.

If you are experiencing recurring external hemorrhoid problems, you may want to do a couple of things. First, try to evaluate whether there is a pattern to the problem. Take stock of the conditions that you begin having problems in. Be sure to keep track of what you eat and drink. Also, make note of any changes in your bowel habits to determine if they may be caused by constipation or digestive difficulties.

Having external hemorrhoid problems more than once may mean that there are things that you are doing that are causing the hemorrhoids as a reaction. You may be able to take control and change the circumstances so that they don’t come back again.

If you can’t pinpoint what is causing them, you may want to consider seeking medical help. Keep in mind that your doctor may also ask you to trace your daily food intake, bowel habits, and other things as well. He may also suggest that you use a medication to help end the problem. If that doesn’t end the recurring hemorrhoid problem, he may suggest have surgery or another invasive procedure as an external hemorrhoid treatment.

Whatever you do, remember that some people are predisposed to hemorrhoids, which would mean you have to work harder than others may to keep them away. Taking care of yourself and finding a treatment that is effective and long lasting are both possible. Just keep trying.
