Avoiding Surgery
Surgery is always a frightening occurrence. Many people think it is the worst thing that they might have to go through. When it comes to external hemorrhoids, surgery is one of those things that might be considered if they are severe, recurring, or become thrombosed.
If you have either thrombosed external hemorrhoids or external hemorrhoids that are less severe, you may want to take some things into consideration before considering hemorrhoid surgery:
- Hemorrhoidectomy (Hemorrhoid surgery) is usually considered when other things have failed to help the problem when the hemorrhoids are very large and interrupt the ability to pass a bowel movement and when they become thrombosed.
- There is a high risk of infections with hemorrhoid surgery. Because of the bacteria and bleeding, you will need to make sure that you keep the area clean and free of infection.
- The recovery time for surgery used as an hemorrhoid treatment is usually very painful. With pain that may be worse than the hemorrhoids were, and time needed to recuperate, there may be other things that would work and not be so invasive and painful.
- Hemorrhoid surgery may not be your only option. Even if you have large, severe, bleeding, or thrombosed hemorrhoids, there may be a natural external hemorrhoid treatment that will work for you.
- There are many types of hemorrhoid surgery. Learning about all of them will offer you a greater choice. Rubber band ligation, laser therapy, hemorrhoidectomy, and even cauterization may all be options that you have no knowledge of yet. Become informed.
Before you make a decision to have hemorrhoid surgery, make sure you understand all of your options very clearly. Sometimes the hemorrhoid can be easily removed in other ways. In many cases, there may be a natural remedy that you haven’t tried yet. Read all you can and become as informed as possible about all the options. Know what you want to do before you tell your doctor no, so that you can easily present a well informed case to him. You want his support and encouragement with the treatments you choose.
When it comes right down to it, your health is the most important thing. Not that you should never consider hemorrhoid surgery, but take into consideration other treatments too. If it comes down to having surgery, at least you will have given other remedies a chance to work first. Knowing you are doing what is best for your health is the important thing.
Presenting your case, your desires, and your well informed mind to your doctor in a way that is non-confrontational will offer you the best he has to say, with the most options open to you. Surgery may not be the only way.
